ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Prior Experience:
Must be an RN with at least two! years nursing experience in a long term care setting. Knowledge of state and federal regulations is highly desired; ideal candidate is a licensed nurse with a commitment to ongoing education and experience teaching adult learners within the last five years.
Responsible to perform or ensure the following is performed according to Good Samaritan mission, center/campus standards, procedures and individualized resident care plans:
A. Staff Development and Education:
Orientation / Training: Assures that staff receive sufficient training and orientation to perform their work duties. Develops / coordinates / assists with instruction in general orientation.. Assures all staff complete required orientation topics before beginning work in their department; assures all employees receive a comprehensive orientation that covers all required topics per GSS policy, procedures, orientation checklists and law, and assures that all employees training chec! klists and on-the-job orientation is completed within 30 days ! after starting work in their area. Assures all students and other allied staff receive appropriate orientation. Verifies the skills and competency of staff on at least an annual basis. Coordinates and/or completes the Post Offer Physical Screen. Conducts Certified Nursing Assistant class and clinicals according to the South Dakota Board of Nursing regulations.
Planning: Assesses learning needs; proposes a staff education budget for each campus. Develops a written plan that addresses identified training needs. Establishes an annual calendar for the Communities of Sioux Falls that includes all required GSS and federal and state mandated training topics / certification training. Communicates in-service / online training in advance. Utilizes lesson plans with measurable objectives for any instructor led educational offerings. Utilizes online courses as part of annual staff development calendar per the centerâs online training strategy.
Administrati! on / Implementation: Establishes / maintains a resource center and library of training materials; utilizes resource library through National Campus. Assists staff to locate materials. Develops or arranges training that is appropriate for adult learners on all shifts; conducts / coordinates or makes all arrangements for training such as computer access, room, refreshments, speakers, audio/visual etc. Assures career lattice information is available to staff. Coordinates training in the Learning Center. Provides individuals and/or teams with direction, encouraging teamwork and collaboration. Coaches and mentors staff to ensure that training is applied. Trains others to coach and mentor knowledge and skills. Monitors and reports on annual training compliance throughout the year.
Evaluation: Evaluates training by gathering staff input regarding quality of training offered, implementing/maintaining system to assess training effectiveness and outcome measuremen! ts. Provides at least a quarterly report to CQI on Staff Development an! d training compliance.
Customer Service: Sees other staff as customers of the staff development department and responds to their requests and needs in a friendly and helpful manner.
Staff Advocacy: Involves, encourages, affirms, and recognizes all staff. Cares about each person as in individual. Advocates, intervenes on all employeesâ behalf.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Responsible to supervise Staff Development Coordinators and ensure consistency for the Good Samaritan Society Communities of Sioux Falls in staff development practices.
Special Abilities / Training:
Must be self-motivated, extremely organized and have good planning abilities; current CPR certification or ability to become certified in CPR within 90 days of hire; must also be able to lead by influence to manage multiple campuses from a staff development perspective.
