The ideal candidate will be based in the Sioux Falls or Rapid City area. Director will have a home office set up. Mission: Lifeline is the American Heart Association's national initiative to advance systems of care for STEMI patients. The initiative seeks to reduce mortality and morbidity and improve the overall quality of care for STEMI patients. The ultimate goal of Mission: Lifeline is to save lives by closing the gaps that separate STEMI patients from timely access to the appropriate treatments.This is a grant funded position scheduled to continue till December 31, 2013. In addition to improving STEMI systems of care and reducing mortality, this project is designed to produce a model system that can be implemented across the nation making South Dakota a leader in heart attack systems of care.Responsibilities include: Coordinate efforts among hospital / EMS consultants as well as other staff in the areas of policy, communications, training and quality improvement. Act as the liaison between hospitals and EMS to facilitate communication and implementation of process. Facilitate task force meetings in coordination with volunteers and staff. In coordination with staff and volunteers, establish sustainability plan within all components of grant.Competitive salary with comprehensive benefits package. Ability to travel daily up to 50% and overnight up to 20%. Must have at least basic knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office 2007 or higher used for word processing, email, presentations, and spreadsheets. Advanced knowledge and skill with these programs is preferred. These skills are subject to testing. Must have the ability to lift at least 20lbs from the ground to waist level with or without reasonable accommodation. Must have at least 2 years of experience in healthcare: clinical or quality improvement or EMS. This experience may also count towards satisfying this position's educational requirement. Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Science, Health Care, or Public Health from an accredited university preferred. College coursework combined with related experience may be substituted for a degree. Related experience may be substituted as follows: 1 1/2 years experience equates to 1 full time year of higher education. Nonprofit experience preferred.
