This 45-bed hospital is a part of the Indian Health Services agency and provides healthcare services to more than 17,000 Sioux Indians in ! the area. Located in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, the region is site to several tragic milestones in the history between the Sioux and the United States, including Ghost Dances and the Wounded Knee Massacre. Today, Pine Ridge continues to be the tribal headquarters of the Oglala Sioux Tribe on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Pine Ridge sits very near the South Dakota and Nebraska border, just 2 hours from Rapid City, South Dakota and 4 hours from Casper, Wyoming.
