Full time. This position will be required to take call with the Neurosurgeon approx! imately 1 in every 6 weeks.
The Sanford Clinic Neurosurgery and Spine team specializes in complex spinal and cranial procedures, peripheral nerve disease, neurovascular procedures, neuro-oncology, radiosurgery, pediatric neurosurgery, and functional neurosurgery. The qualified candidate will be an integral part of the Neurosurgery team in clinical and surgical settings. Neurosurgery and Spine focuses on individualized patient care with an open team environment.
The Advanced Practice Provider provides primary or specialty care for clinic patients and/or inpatients acting as an assistant to physicians. The APP functions in a structured care setting and adheres to the policies and procedures established by Sanford Health. The APP must demonstrate knowledge of medical principles for the clinic patient and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patientâs status and to interpret appropriately the information needed to identify each patientâs re! quirements relative to the age-specific needs, and to provide ! the care needed. Other duties as assigned by Clinic Manager. Will be required to follow and round with physician. Must have hospital privileges.
When students are providing patient care, treatment, and/or services as a part of their training, any/all employees may be asked to supervise the students.

Required Experience
Physician Assistant:
Must have successfully completed a formal program of study at an accredited university, college or school in primary health care or a recognized clinical specialty. The course of study is approved by the South Dakota Board of Medical & Osteopathic Examiners. Must have passed the Physician Assistants National Certifying Examination, administered by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or been grandfathered by the South Dakota Board of Medical & Osteopathic Examiners. Only those successfully completing the national certification examination ma! y use the credential PA-C or âPhysician Assistant-Certified.â In order to remain certified, PAs must complete 100 hours of continuing medical education every 2 years. Every 6 years, they must pass a recertification examination or complete an alternative program combining learning experiences and a take-home examination. Must possess a SD and Minnesota state Physician Assistantâs license.
Nurse Practitioner :
Must have successfully completed a formal nurse practitioner program of study beyond the basic RN role specific to their specialty area of practice. This program includes academic science and clinical experiences specific to their specialty, graduating with a minimum of a Masters Degree (those who have obtained APRN licensure prior to 2000 will be grandfathered in). Currently licensed to practice as a Certified Nurse Practitioner in the state of South Dakota and Minnesota. Functions within the legal scope of practice
