The LPN provides nursing care to patients defined by the units scope of care. The LPN also maintains competencies in the technical skills needed to perform nursing procedures, administer medications, and safely operate equipment needed to enhance care. Under the direction of the RN, the practical nurse collaborates with physicians, the patient and family, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to meet each patients individualized needs. Provides nursing care under supervision of RN for patients primarily consisting of! newborns, postpartum and post cesarean section, and adult fem! ale medical surgical patients. Infrequently will provide care to Level I neontates and pediatric patients. Will also frequently be in role of scrub nurse for obstetrical procedures performed on the Birthing Center.
Education/Experience:
Must be graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Previous experience in obstetric, operative, medical/surgical or maternal/child nursing preferred, which is typically acquired in 12 years, and/or the ability to demonstrate achievement of unit specific competencies.
Other qualifications/certifications/license:
Current LPN Licensure in state ofNorth Dakotarequired for employment
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required for employment
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Provider) certification within 6 months of employment
