Registered Nurse ~ Emergency Department

Description: Sanford Health is at present looking to employ Registered Nurse ~ Emergency Department right now, this occupation will be placed in South Dakota. Full Time 72 hours per two week pay period; rotating 12 hour shifts including every other weekend and every other holiday.
The! Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide quality, competent nursing care to emergent, urgent and non emergent patients, families and significant others. The nurse in this role is expected to assess and provide competent, safe care for patients from infancy to geriatrics. The nurse in this role must have excellent clinical and communication skills and critically think patient outcomes. Some clinical skills expected are: age-related patient assessment, medication administration, IV insertion and maintenance, cardiac monitoring and treatment, trauma assessment and intervention, maintaining and monitoring hemodynamic status, wound/dressing care, etc. Is expected to work collaboratively with EMS, law enforcement, crisis community agencies, and other physicians and healthcare workers to deliver this care.
Following a competency based formal orientation, competent performance is expected. Must understand and! use nursing process. Must be able to critically think and be ! self directed to manage patient care. Must be able to collaborate and negotiate with team members. Must be able to patient teach to all levels of age. Must be able to communicate effectively to physicians, families and patients and other involved providers, i.e., law enforcement, EMS, Crisis intervention team members, other healthcare workers. The RN functions within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the South Dakota Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules. The Sanford Nursing Practice recognizes the Scope and Standards of Practice (2004) and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements (2001) as published by the American Nurses Association as the foundation for nursing care delivery.
Required Skills
Required Experience
Graduation from a NLN or AACN accredited nursing program is strongly preferred. Graduate from an approved n! ursing program is acceptable. Bachelorâs degree in Nursing strongly preferred.
Currently licensed with the applicable State Nursing Board and/or possess multistate licensure privileges as required by position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS), Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) must be obtained within 1 year of hire into position and must be maintained during the length of employment. Specialty certification related to Emergency, Flight or Trauma Nursing preferred. Functions within the legal RN scope of practice.
