Description: Sanford Health is presently looking of Patient Care Technician (FT) - Sanford Aberdeen Medical Center right now, this position will be placed in South Dakota. Further informations about this position opportunity please read the description below. Performs basic patient care services and supports activities of the patient care unit. Patient Care Technic! ians are multi skilled to provide expanded bedside services under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Patient Care Technicians have knowledge of and utilize appropriate age-related patient care protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of all ages of patients. The Patient Care Technician duties include personal hygiene, comfort and safety measures, assisting with activities of daily living, and simple nursing procedures outlined in the job responsibilities. The Patient Care Technician assists with maintaining a clean environment for the patient in the rooms and other areas of the unit.
The Patient Care Technician has knowledge of and utilizes appropriate age related patient protocols from pediatrics to geriatrics. Under the direction of the RN the PCT is responsible for the daily personal care of the patient including but not limited to bathing, toileting, assisting with meals, vital signs, comfort and safety measures, assisting with acti! vities of daily living i.e. walks with oxygen, and simple proc! edures, i.e., discontinuing Foley catheters. Completes the daily stocking of patient rooms. This position may have access to medications for purposes of distribution to licensed personnel.
Patient Care Technician performs reception duties and clerical tasks and must have strong verbal communication skills. Will require using the phone, basic computer keyboarding skills, and other clerical skills. Other duties to include monitoring of unit visitation via controlled access doors. Responsible for facilitation, processing and filing birth certificate paperwork as required. Must work collaboratively with other health care team members, demonstrate effective customer and interpersonal skills including good command of the English language.
Job Knowledge and Skills: Must be able to work with growth and development needs of unique client populations. Knowledge of medical terminology and medical equipment/supplies preferred. Must be able to add, subtract, mul! tiply and divide.
When students are providing patient care, treatment, and/or services as a part of their training, any/all employees may be asked to supervise the students.
Required Skills
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience with clerical/business services, communications equipment, and computer entry are desirable but not essential. Previous patient care experience/certification in nursing assistant preferred but not required. HUC/secretarial training preferred. Must have CPR training basic math skills, troubleshooting with telemetry equipment.
