Registered Nurse ~ Surgery

Description: Sanford Health is at the momment seeking for Registered Nurse ~ Surgery right now, this vacancy will be placed in South Dakota. Further informations about this vacancy opportunity please read the description below. Full-Time, 80 hours per pay period.
Shift: 6:30am-3:00pm Monday-Friday; 1-2 evening shifts of 12:30pm-9:00pm per month; 1-2 evening call shifts per month. E! very 5th weekend and 1 holiday per year. Potential for 2 night shifts every 2 1/2 months.
Please note this is an 8 hour shift and there is a waiting list for 10 / 12 hour shifts.
The Registered Nurse demonstrates skilled peri-operative abilities and practices within the framework of the nursing process. The nurse coordinates and provides direct patient care in a structured environment while adhering to and supporting hospital and unit philosophy goals and standards of care. The nurse is a highly effective communicator with patient, family and other health care team members. The nurse is a patient advocate. The nurse fosters the development of colleagues and students. He/she demonstrates advanced technical competencies, positive interpersonal relationships and well-developed critical thinking skills to promote and provide quality health care for patients. The nurse has knowledge of and utilizes appropriate age-related patient care protocols relating to the ! physical and psychological needs of infant, pediatric, adolesc! ent, adult and geriatric patients.
Following a competency based formal orientation, competent performance is expected. Refer to department specific self-assessment checklist for specifics. Must be able to work with growth and development needs of all client populations.
The RN functions within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the South Dakota Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules. The Sanford Nursing Practice recognizes the Scope and Standards of Practice (2004) and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements (2001) as published by the American Nurses Association as the foundation for nursing care delivery.
Required Skills
Graduation from a NLN or AACN accredited nursing program is strongly preferred. Graduate from an approved nursing program is acceptable. Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.
Currently licensed with the applicable State Nursing Board and/or possess multistate l! icensure privileges as required by position.
Scheduled work hours will vary dependent on patient needs. This may include overtime, undertime, call, nights, days, weekends and holidays. Locations where work is carried out include: in-patient operating rooms, special procedure room, radiology department, patient rooms and other locations at which a surgical procedure is performed on Sanford USD Medical Center campus.
