RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinates and provides direct patient care for cardiac Phase II, III, & IV rehabilita! tion patients. Carries out all aspects of cardiac rehabilitation services. Utilizes the nursing process in providing care and includes the process in documentation, identifying unusual conditions, and utilizing initiative and judgment to carry out appropriate response. Administers cardiac treatments and patient specific cares to patient in accordance with approved nursing techniques. Participates in patient care via interdisciplinary team approach. Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor or Physician of patient’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents throughout the progression of care. Follows medical treatment plan through execution of physician orders. Initiates a patient education plan for inpatient and cardiac rehab patients, according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or hospital policy including instruction to the patient, family, and others, as ! identified. Assists in training, supervision, and evaluation o! f nursing service personnel. Other duties may be assigned.
Education and/or Experience: Graduate from an approved school of nursing. Minimum of one year clinical experience with progressive, demonstrated leadership qualities. Holds or is eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in the State of SD. Must be trained in ACLS.
