Full-time, 72 hours per two week pay period. 12 hour shifts to include every other weekend and holiday.

The Registered Nurse in Ca! rdiology is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide individualized nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with cardiac disease or related illness. The nurse following the RN Legal Scope of Practice assumes responsibility for the outcome of nursing care delivered during a specified work period. The Cardiology RN is expected to fulfill the following skills, but is not limited to: cardiac monitoring, arrhythmia interpretation and treatment, acute patient assessment and response, post-op cardiac procedure care, congestive heart failure care, and teaching. Expected to have good knowledge of medical patients with various diagnoses.

Following a competency based formal orientation, competence and performance is expected. Must have clinical skills in patient assessment, analysis, diagnosis and interventions for medical patients and develop expertise in cardiac disease assessment, diagnosis and intervention. Must be able to interpret rhythms and initia! te treatments as needed. Must have effective communication ski! lls to work with patients/families, physicians and other healthcare team members. Must have good critical thinking skills to effectively and immediately respond to changing situations. Must be able to handle stressful situations. Must have good teamwork skills. Must be able to delegate, collaborate, and negotiate with co-workers and subordinates. Refer to department specific self-assessment checklist for specifics.

The RN functions within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the South Dakota Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules. The Sanford Nursing Practice recognizes the Scope and Standards of Practice (2004) and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements (2001) as published by the American Nurses Association as the foundation for nursing care delivery.

Required Skills

Graduation from a NLN or AACN accredited nursing program is strongly preferred. Graduate from an approved nursing program is acceptable! . Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.

Specific requirements may be instituted per department such as ACLS, PALS, and/or specific experience requirements. Currently licensed with the applicable State Nursing Board and/or possess multistate licensure privileges as required by position. ACLS required with one-year of hire into position
