Description: RESOURCE TEAM (MEDICAL / SURGICAL) - SANFORD MEDICAL CENTER BASEMENT is in need of RN INPATIENT right now, this career will be placed in North Dakota. The Registered Nurse is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide individualized nursing care in all settings in the medical center where nursi! ng is practiced. The nurse assumes the responsibility for the outcome of nursing care during a specified work period. The nurse practices within the full scope of nursing expertise with knowledge of and utilizing appropriate age related nursing standards. The Registered Nurse functions within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the North Dakota Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules. The Sanford Nursing Practice recognizes the Scope and Standards of Practice for Nurses, including the standards of practice and standards of professional performance, the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements, and the Social Policy Statement for Nurses as published by the American Nurses Association as the foundation for nursing care delivery. Reports to As Assigned Education, Experience and Skills Requirements Must have graduated from an accredited school or college of nursing. A bachelor's degree in nursing is required for all new graduate Register! ed Nurses. A bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred for exp! erienced Registered Nurses with prior employment relevant to the area of practice. Specific services/positions may have additional education, training or experience requirements. Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculum or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as a RN (or LPN) at another facility. Licensure/Certification Requirement Current licensure with the applicable state nursing board and/or possess multistate licensure privileges as required by position. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications (ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP, etc). Job Specific Competencies
Nursing Process: Collects, organizes and analyzes data to identify expected outcomes. Documents holistic assessment of patient emotional, spiritual and physical care needs. Completes assessments within time frame identified in admission policy. Devel! ops plan of care and expected outcomes alongside with patient, family and health care team. Formulates measurable expected outcomes using the electronic nursing diagnosis and standards of care. Individualizes plan based upon identified patient needs inclusive of diversity and cultural needs. Defines outcomes with attainable timeframes and documents as measurable goals. Implements intervention identified and carries out safely, reliably and in a timely manner. Evaluates patient progress toward attainment of outcomes based upon plan of care. Documents evaluation results. Uses resources and collaborates with others to implement plan. Implements physician and nursing orders. Demonstrates total accountability for patient while providing care.
Education: Acquires and maintains current knowledge in nursing practice. Participates in ongoing educational-related activities. Demonstrates commitment to lifelong learning and professional competence and documents. Seeks experi! ences to maintain skills and competence for role performance. Promotes ! nursing to students; maintains environment for learning and supervises students as requested. Serves as preceptor as requested for new staff. Educates patients per standards of practice.
Delegation: Consistently delegates appropriate tasks to unlicensed assistive personnel (UAP) as defined within job descriptions, skills and patient care needs and the competence level of the delegate. Demonstrates the ability to communicate clearly, tactfully and with sufficient direction when delegating to the UAP. Provides adequate assistance and support to the UAPs to ensure safe, reliable administration of patient care. Consistently monitors the progress of delegated tasks and seeks feedback to ensure patient outcomes are met. Demonstrates overall accountability for the tasks delegated to the UAP.
Communication: Demonstrates effective communication with patients and families under stress/experiencing grief through active support. Communicates through clear, concise! , accurate electronic documentation. Demonstrates effective communication through skills to delegate, collaborate, and negotiate as a member of a team. Contributes to building a positive environment through display of positive behaviors and the use of first party communication. Recognizes and clearly understands individuals are responsible for his/her actions.
