POSITION SUMMARY:
The registered professional nurse is responsible for care of the
pediatric patient ages 0 -21 years of age. The RN utilizes physiological, psychosocial
and spiritual knowledge to care for patients newly diagnosed with pediatric diseases.
The RN will be knowledgeable and skillful in the overall management of childhood
diseases/surgery. He/she functions as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team to
meet t! he needs of patients on all points of the pediatric continuum.! The RN is
responsible for integrating the nursing process into the care of the pediatric patient
population.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
BSN or actively enrolled in a BSN program with completion within 5 years of start with OSF. Must show proof of enrollment or acceptance letter from College for the current/next semester. Validating documents must be shown at time of interview.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing
Minimum Experience:
1 year of RN experience or completion of an RN Residency program.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
6-12 months of pediatric nursing. Should possess the ability to understand and react effectively to pediatric populations.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:
See Registered Professional Nurse Registration/Licensure Specifications. Current Illinois RN license. Must complete PALS certification within 1 year of employment. Curren! t American Heart Association HealthCare Provider BLS CPR or approved equivalent (must include infant through adult, one and two-man rescuer, use of AED, and choking with hands-on CPR skills return demonstration, and must be pre-approved by Org Dev/Human Resources) completed prior to employment. Must complete Electronic fetal monitoring and NRP, within 60 days of hire. ACLS, and Neonatal Care/Assessment and Neonatal Skills Lab (S.T.A.B.L.E.) certifications within 60 days of employment.
