Conifer Health Solutions is currently hiring for a HIM! Specialist - Full Time - 8am - 4:30pm M-F at Carrington Healt! h Care in Carrington, ND.
JOB SUMMARY
To be responsible for multiple technical functions within the HIM department
for the proper processing
and maintenance of patient records, knowledge of federal, state, and regulatory regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Others may be assigned.
Retrieves discharged medical records from various nursing units and ancillary departments. Assists in reconciling retrieved medical records against patient discharge listings to ensure receipt of all records within twenty-four (24) hours of discharge/visit.
Processes all incoming requests for patient information by reviewing the request against the patientâs authorization and federal and state statues. Obtains the patient record, retrieves pertinent documents and sends out information via US Mail, Commercial companies, facsimile machine, or hand delivers.
Assesses and evaluates i! npatient and outpatient medical record documentation to ensure that all physician documentation is completed in compliance with established guidelines set by Medical Staff Rules, Regulations and Bylaws, JCAHO standards and federal and state guidelines.
Retrieves reports necessary for a complete quantitative review for various patient types. Collaborates with physicians regarding completion requirements and associated time frames for completion. Notifies physician regarding suspension of admitting privileges and associated ramifications.

Must be able to communica! te professionally with physician and other clinical staff regarding cha! rt completion requirements.
Training in analysis of inpatient/outpatient medical records.
Requires the ability to read through the medical record and assess if all required documentation for a patientâs hospital stay is present and authenticated. These requirements are set by Medical Staff Rules, Regulations and Bylaws, JCAHO standards and federal and state guidelines.
Knowledge of regulations related to release of patient information
Experience in an electronic record environment
Problem solving /creative thinking utilizing the patient record.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Include minimum education, technical training, and/or experience required to perform the job.
High school diploma or equivalent
One yearsâ experience with RHIT/RHIA certification; or
Minimum of 2-3 years business office or related HIM experience
