Registered Nurse ~ PACU

Full-Time, 72 hours per pay period. Will work 8 or 12 hour shifts between 7:00am-2:00am plus night call during the week. Will work approximate! ly every 5th weekend and one to two holidays per year.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide individualized nursing care. The nurse assumes the responsibility for the outcome of nursing care during a specified work period. The nurse receives assistance from the full scope of nursing expertise. The nurse has knowledge of and utilizes appropriate age-related patient protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of all ages of patient in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit.
Following a competency based formal orientation, competent performance in all aspects is expected. Refer to department specific self assessment checklist.
The RN functions within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the South Dakota Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules. The Sanford Nursing Practice recognizes the Scope and Standards of Practice (2004) and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive ! Statements (2001) as published by the American Nurses Associat! ion as the foundation for nursing care delivery.
Required Skills
Graduation from a NLN or AACN accredited nursing program is strongly preferred. Graduate from an approved nursing program is acceptable. Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.
ACLS and PALS certifications are required. Currently licensed with the applicable State Nursing Board and/or possess multistate licensure privileges as required by position.
Work hours vary according to unit needs. Will work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, call, days, nights, with potential for under time and overtime. May be exposed to communicable diseases.
